Halton Hills Lecture Series - The Golden Spike: Crawford Lake from Archaeology to Anthropocene

Crawford Lake is a remarkable body of water. At over 10,000 years old, the lake has unique properties that allow it to preserve a fascinating record of natural and human induced environmental change in its sediment. Conservation, science, and Indigenous knowledge have come together to tell a compelling story of the land and our impact upon it over the past 1000 years. From the discovery of corn pollen that led to reconstruction of a 15th century longhouse village to the designation of the lake as the host of the Golden Spike for the proposed Anthropocene Epoch this presentation by Brenna Bartley, the Education & Outreach Manager for Conservation Halton, will explore all the secrets of Crawford Lake!
