Powerful and transcendent, Considering Matthew Shepard is a work for choir
and instrumental ensemble that memorializes the 1998 torture and murder of
Shepard, who was targeted for his sexuality. Composer Craig Hella Johnson
includes a variety of musical styles and texts, from Passion-like settings to
excerpts from Matthew's personal journal. Mark Vuorinen conducts the Grand
Philharmonic Chamber Singers and University of Waterloo Chamber Choir in
this Canadian premiere.
