Aberdeenshire folksinger, Iona Fyfe, who makes her North American debut in Fergus, has become one of Scotland’s finest young ballad singers, rooted deeply in the singing traditions of the North East of Scotland. A finalist in the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2017 as well as nominated for 2017 Scots Singer of the Year, Iona embraces the repertoire of her native North East Scotland.
Described as “one of the most stunning voices on the circuit today” (Artree).
Canadian trad trio NUA makes a return visit to the theatre collaborating with Iona Fyfe as well as treating us to a couple of their own compositions.
Since their inception in 1982 the 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band have been a leader in bagpiping and drumming, boldly presenting innovative music with subtle hints of Celtic tradition. The band is a force that promotes the continuous improvement of musical skill- set through teaching, concert performances and professional competitions. Pipe Major Doug MacRae will be bringing a mini band of select members to celebrate Tartan Day.
