Accessibility

Shuswap Theatre is a performance space in a renovated light industrial building. Due to the limitations of the old building it is not as accessible as we would like. However, we try to meet the needs of people with disabilities as much as possible.

Patrons with wheelchairs or walkers may reserve space in Row A which has level access. Row A seats can only be purchased from our Ticket Agent (RE-Market etc.) or at the door. Advance purchase is recommended so we can be prepared for you. Front of House staff will escort you down the lane and into the emergency exit at the front of the auditorium. Row A seats are removable and two seats are removed for each wheelchair. It is perfectly acceptable for your companion(s) to join you in the front row. Patrons with walkers who can manage one or two steps are encouraged to book the seats closest to the aisles in Rows B or C (available online). Escorted access from the lobby is through the workshop or through the emergency exit. Front of House staff will store your walker in the workshop to avoid obstructing the aisles.

There is one wheelchair accessible toilet located in the women’s washroom. If a man requires access, the Front of House staff will escort him into that stall in a way that respects everyone’s privacy.

Booster Seats are available for child friendly shows.

Service Animals are welcome in the facility. Please contact our Ticket Agent, RE-Market etc. (250) 833-6135, to ensure that your seat selection provides sufficient space for your animal.

For hearing impaired patrons, the theatre is wired for the Auris Loop, the industry standard for those with hearing difficulties. The Auris Loop plays through the T-coil in your hearing aid. Most modern hearing aids have a T-coil but it must be activated by your audiologist.
