Five guys just looking for a place to happen and makin’ stops
along the way.
Having the courage and spirit to channel The Tragically
Hip as they were—live, raw, and brimming with determination raw energy
and Grace 2—this band delivers something truly special. With their renditions
of classics like Killer Whale Tank and Double Suicide (if you know, you know)
seamlessly woven into performances, they bring the weight of those moments back
to life. It’s a beautiful tribute, really.
The
front man pays homage to Gord Downie not through imitation, but with a
hauntingly familiar authenticity. Not to mention a guitarist virtuoso, who has
been known to jam and rant and then jam and rant again, sorry, eh.
Their
new theatre show concept, simply titled Fans, is a creation of the
band itself, aiming to honor The Hip not just through the
music, but through the fans who love them. Featuring crowd participation and
stories, it offers a fresh, interactive take on the traditional tribute show.
Hosted by childhood MuchMusic VJ Bill Welychka, Fans gives
Canadians a platform to share why they hold The Kingston Quintet so close to
their hearts.
“This
is how we’ve always experienced them—live and real. Why would we do it any
other way?”
The
band lives up to their tagline: “We play music From the Hip”
