Theatre Gargantua Presents:
THE SIDESTREAM FESTIVAL
The Sidestream Festival features bold new theatre works in
various stages of development. Catch TWO shows by innovative artists each night
with a brief intermission. Join us for a single night or for the entire
festival to experience the thrilling diversity represented by our artists and
their projects - with something for every age and interest.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 9TH – FESTIVAL DAY 4
Lucky Bastard is a f*cking cabaret in celebration of
a life well lived… well, lived at least. A new work by playwright Breton
Lalama, directed by Daniel MacIvor with music by John Alcorn.
The evening concludes with a combination of comedy, drama,
and opera with The Queen in Me, exploring how the rigid conventions of
race, gender, and sexuality in opera prevent one of the greatest art forms from
reaching its kaleidoscopic potential.
