The Trail & District Arts Council and Rossland Council for Arts and Culture present Luminarium, a solarpunk fable where juggling saves the world! An all ages show recommended for kids ages 4 and up, their families and the young at heart to enjoy together on Sunday January 24 at 3 pm in The Bailey Theatre as part of the TECK Family Series.
A fun, visually stunning, non-verbal, physical theatre performance where Cause & Effect Circus uses high-level circus skills, glow-in-the-dark juggling, physical comedy, and clever object manipulation, for a truly magical experience.
In this fable, centuries of pollution have left the planet scarred, and humanity now survives in scattered pockets, clinging to the remains of a livable environment.
Enter two workers from the Luminarium Revitalization Company: suit-clad specialists with a mission to breathe life back into the world, one dead facility at a time. Their latest assignment is a long-forgotten factory scheduled for retrofit. The task? Rip out outdated systems and install cutting-edge clean tech. Simple. Efficient. By the book.
But the job doesn’t go as planned.
As the workers settle in, things start to glitch—and so do they. A game here. A challenge there. Before long, they’re goofing off and rediscovering the joy of simply playing. And just when they improvise a new biotech solution catastrophe strikes... everything crashes. The lights go out. The mission fails. Silence.
Then—an unexpected glow. With curiosity (and a few more experiments), the workers make an astonishing discovery. One that may hold the key to a new future.
Luminarium is powered by laughter, teamwork, and the spark of rediscovery, it’s a playful reminder that the future might just be saved—not by brute force or better machines, but by imagination, care, and finding a bit of balance.

Cause & Effect Circus was founded in 2013 by Chris Murdoch and Yuki Ueda with a vision to merge contemporary juggling techniques and theatrical storytelling, exploring social and economic themes. Their goal is to create a unique Canadian circus identity and redefine the audience’s understanding of juggling as an art form.
Single tickets are $20 adults and $16 kids. General admission seating, so get to the theatre early for the best seats.
